Damn! I didn't get out for a run at all, thought you'd all gone to Pendle and I wouldn't have got away from work soon enough to get there. Oh well, I start nights tomorrow so I'll just go for a daylight run () around Ilkley moor.
When you're all at work, ha ha!
Oh and Swift, thanx for the offer, mebbe I'll take you up on it next time you head out that way.
Six miler last night, with 8 other Bowlanders, from Carwags over Beacon Fell Country Park, down into the Bleasedale Estate to St Eadmer's parish church. Left our poppies on the visitors' book then retraced our outward journey but took in the trig point on the summit of Beacon Fell and the new(ish) 'wicker deer' statue in the woods. As with most local Bat Runs we retreated to the warmth & hospitality of the Tillotsons in Chipping.
6 mile run home from work. No need for headtorch most of the time due to brilliant moonlight. Fantastic.
50 minutes or so on the woodland trails around and over Beacon Fell. Despite having 'better' ( more expensive / more powerful ) headtorches, the wife's AlpKit Gamma is now my headtorch of choice. The adequate performance, from such a beautifully minimal & simple piece of kit, has totally endeared it to me.
Interesting to hear about that headtorch, WD; unless I can pinch my cousin's XP off him, I'm stuck with a tikka 2; ok for my slow plodding, not great for the speedier runs with KCAC types! ALpkit torches are cheap as well, aren't they?
I'm off for a run tonight, not sure where or for how long; I'll just see where the mood takes me -(won't be fast though!)
Anyone used these? What are like in terms of output? I've got a tikka plus which is ok and was thinking about buying one of these as a backup to have in the bag.
What would anyone recomend in terms of an value for money head torch? Just be interested in peoples views. i know's it's of topic.
They are very good. Not quite as bright as the myo xp which is my other one (the old one not with the waist pack), but not far off. Perfectly adequate for night running on ground you know reasonably well.
Tao begets one. One begets two. Two begets all things.
I'm very impressed with my gamma - not the brightest, but more than enough for most running. I'd definitely recomend it as a budget option, and can't really see myself buying anything fancier to "upgrade" it with.
