For "trail" running is see no point in buying special shoes for that. Use your road shoees or if it slippery use your fell shoes.

well...spent around 1 hour in "foot traffic" in bolton on Sat.
The chap in the shop said the same as you guys really. motion control for only serious pronators & road only.
anyway I tried around 10 pairs of shoes on then jumped onto the tread mill for a gait analysis.
as the shoes are only for trail (quite compact trail around reservoirs) almost all the trail shoes where wrote off from the beginning as they where almost all neutral shoes (like the inov8's). I tried a few trail shoes with a little support (solomans giving the best support & straightening my pronation the most)...but they where around 80quid!
Then I tried some road shoes with a little more support (these corrected pronation & felt more supportive again).
so I opted for some road shoes which have felt great on a 5mile wet run around the reservoir.
(please dont start the whole barefoot/neutral foot/high heal - ankle rolling replies) hehe
