    Today's Walk

Nice stroll in Strid wood with my wife and 2 year old for a picnic, followed by a very nice scone with cream and jam Cracking weather for walking and indeed running. There was many a rueful glance up towards Simon's seat.

Nice day, shame about the £6 parking fee :w00t:

Anyone else go for a ramble today?

Certainly did! Ours was less expensive though.......walked from home, via the smallest station on the KWVR and then gained height to take in the views North to the Dales, before making our way across to Haworth.

Dog ramble this morning, dog jog this aft, followed by big shower for one ell of a muddy hound.

Seems you had a lovely day out especially with the cream and jam scones! £6 parking fee though??!! We took our 4 youngsters up to Stoodley Pike this afternoon. Very cold and slow going but the kids loved it.

For some reason the Duke of Devonshire feels the need to charge £6 to park in his carparks (and there's not really anywhere else to park if you have a youngster with you). You can use the ticket at any of the three carparks which makes a small difference but £6 is still daylight robbery. If I was doing a longer walk with the youngster in a carrier I would park out of the way somewhere and walk down instead.

One lap of Fewston, the contrasting colours of the dark evergreens and the turning deciduous trees was picturesque in the late afternoon sun.

How about parking up at Storiths? I may be out of date, but there used to be a few free parking places, and Buffers used to be the cheapest and nicest cafe in the area.

    Re: Todays Walk

Thanks Alexandra but I don't think my 2 year old would walk that far. I would park at barden bridge normally but not with my lad in tow.

tbh I hadn't realised how pricey it was until we got there, I'm sure it was £4.50 last time (which was bad enough) but that was a while back. Once I'd driven all the way there I thought I might as well. I won't be doing it again though.
