Attachment 4128It was a fairly 'undulating' course, to say the least
1. The course starts at 230 'FAS-L', drops to 172 'FAS-L', & ascends back to 226 'FAS-L' in the first mile!
2. Then.... from 134 'FAS-L' to 225 'FAS-L' between miles 4 & 5
3. And, between miles 5 & 6, to descends from 225 'FAS-L' to 185 'FAS-L', then back to 230 'FAS-L' for the finish
Given the nature of the course, I'd have been happy with any time under 45:00, but did better:w00t:
It certainly wasn't an easy one though
And, as seemingly usual, 'muggins' was well down the pack at the start (taking far too long to cross the 'chip-line'), which meant I had a lot of passing to do in the first 3/4 of a mile
(my running-watch keeps losing time, only realised correct time, when I put radio on at car, whilst taking 'longs' & jacket off, so was late to start-line)
The hill past the Coking plant was less trouble than I thought it'd be, but still not easy (covering the first mile - at the hill-top - in 6:37!)
Surprisingly, it didn't seem to take too long to get back round to the 5 mile board (@ 34:09)
However, the last drag up Station Road was horrible, I saw Leslie Hardwick (a member of the organising club) in front of me at this point, but only closed to within a few seconds of her (she's a very good 'Trunce' runner, & won the womens series title this year)
Richard Asquith (of 'Flaming Photography') was there, so his images will appear on-line later.
Usually he says "Hello" (or I do to him) but I didn't realise it was him till too late, & he won't recognise me in an Ackworth vest yet
The results are on-line now

'Chip-time' = 42:53
I spent too much time queuing to cross the line, due to that damned watch!!!!!:angry:
There seemed to be lots of 'Penistone Footpath Runners' in attendance

My sister did this today - what a girl just turned 50 and really going for it!

Take more than a new vest.......... photos are all up along with some video
Thanks Richard, I had a look at them last night:sneaky:
(& got a comment from SWMBO about following younger women:wink
I saw someone at the corner of Bleakley Lane/Station Road/Summer Lane, but didn't realise it was you until it was too late to gasp an "Hello".
After I finished, I asked one of your 'crew' on the field, who were handing out water if it was you I'd spotted.
However the young lady in question was unsure where you'd 'set up shop'
Seemingly so, it was just that I've not entered anything that you've been present at yet
(only this 10K, & the 'Withins Skyline')
That said, doubtless, I'll see you next year at the 'Trunces'

Heh, heh!!!
No seriously though, I was starting to suffer a bit by then, as my previous 10K 'PB was at the 'Wakefield Hospice City 10K' earlier this year (42:53)
And, this course is a fair bit hillier
I used to road-race around part of this circuit a few years ago (94/95) as a '3rd Cat', & still remember the agony of doing so
