Leg 2 In The Dark - 18th Nov

I'm thinking of having the day off work on Thursday, going up to the Lakes in the afternoon, and setting out on Leg 2 as it goes dark about 5pm

    anybody fancy joining me?

not sure I can swing the safety aspect of this past Lady Slugge without company...

I can't do 5pm but if you are stuck and happy to go off a bit later 6.30 perhaps then you can count me in!

    Thanks for the offer Zmehican

I'd really like to get started early though, as I have to drive back to Manchester straight afterwards, and go to work on the Friday!

I was also thinking of pottering up Blencathra first while it's light, and recce'ing the parachute descent just before it goes dark

I can give a lift up/back to anybody not too far off the motorway route up from South Manchester, although the logistics get more tricky with only one car...

    Why?

Do you know the leg well and just want to check your navigation

I'll be over at Penrith for a meeting around lunch time so could join you later on.

I'd rather not have too late of a night though as I've to be at Wasdale for 9:00am on Friday

I'll see if I can get there any earlier and drop you a message through if I can.

I've recce'd most of Leg 2 once before on my own (out and back, so could count as twice!) - I didn't actually go up/down Fairfield or drop down to Dunmail off Seat Sandal though
it's the leg I'll be doing in the dark on my schedule, so I'd like to get a feel for it
would be great if you could make it Bill - and I promise not to wimp out because of the weather

    oh, and another thing
if I do end up leaving a car at the end on the leg
does anybody know if it's safe to leave a car at Dunmail after dark?
or would it be better at Wythburn? or Town Head? or Grasmere?

Marvin and myself left our bikes at dun mail. I've left my van near the aa box loads of times.
Also slept in it there loads as well.

    Hi Daz

I'm very tempted to come along and have a trot round if that's ok, I'll PM you for more details.

    Cheers
    Andy.
