Hmmm, well what maloni has said makes me think that perhaps it depends on the reason they are nervous.

I am very very slow and I get nervous about being last by miles, or worry that I can't do it - I worry about putting myself out of the comfort zone - but then maloni say she worries more because shes getting better and wants to do well.

Maybe it's just nerves about not doing very well relative to whatever stage you are at.

Actually I am rambling on about rubbish so I will shut up!

Curious OHW, surely racing, especially offroad is about putting yourself beyond your comfort zone so that you get the reward beyond it?? Or do you race for other reasons?

well obviously allan. doesn't mean it comes natural or that you don't worry/get nervous about it

Tell 'em to pull themselves together and get racing... it's great fun. I love the build up to a race, always a little nervous but wouldn't say worried. I always wonder why the hell I'm doing it once the gun has gone and the comfort zone is a distant memory but the post-race sense of achievement (or just the tea and cake if its not been a fab race ) makes it all worthwhile.

I'd suggest you tempt them with a race that offers a really nice goodie bag first, that'll get 'em hooked
