    The Blorenge

Or as it commonly seems to be referred to - "The Mighty Blorenge".

I'd walked it on the Abergavenny Three Peaks before I ran it last year http://connect.garmin.com/activity/19731408 . My question is - how can you fairly describe what its like to.
    1. A total fell novice who wants to race it.
    2. Club runners who have experienced Pentyrch/Machen/Sugar Loaf.

I've tried but the faces I pull seem to give off scary vibes.

A total novice will get the shock of their life!
A club runner who has done those other races will wish they had stayed in bed!
    In a word...Hardcore!
There are very few climbs as totally knackering as this. Think of the last sharp bit up Sugar Loaf times..ooh, err..maybe 10? And then you have a very, very fast slippery descent plus real ankle twisting rocks covered in mouldy leaves near the bottom. Gird yer loins and get it done!!!

I agree with the above plus this: the first 1400ft of climb gets steeper as you go up!! If you enjoy descending then you will be ok after that if your legs still work.

Its so flat, your garmin will probably pop a gasket.
ALSO........Just when you are totally knackered but happy to reach the canal that signals the end, anyone over 5,8" is likely to brain themselves on the nasty little change in height in the roof of the tunnel under said canal. Certainly seen some claret as a result of unexpected skull/brick interface episode.

Al in all, a corker. I shall be thinking of you as I pass through security in Heathrow at roughly the same time. Wonder who is in most danger?

Sounds a pearler cant wait !

I will remember that top tip for the tunnel under the canal - I would rather not scalp myself.

In fact TS - looking at the Fan Fawr results - our results were not far apart so we could be close again - I will have to sharpen and get my elbows stuck out to occupy the path

I'll look forward to that sore legs. Good point about the tunnel Wheeze, Helen Fines was standing outside it last year reminding people to duck.
