Fair enough if you want it for an mp3 player but I've heard bad things about the way USB turntables compress the sound. Personally I have a nice turntable and still buy records on vinyl because good quality vinyl gives you a superior sound.

Most of the bands I like still release their albums on 180g vinyl and give you a code to download the mp3s for free. You could always try and download your existing records from a file sharing site, it would be quicker and it's not really theft if you've already bought it....

or a purple vinyl copy of Zulu Beat by King Kurt on Thin Slice records,or a bizarre shaped picture disc of a rat laying on a dustbin of Zulu beat
'Jump to the Zulu beat, ooh wallah wallah wallah, ooh wallah wallah wallah

Looking at your avatar - only if you are wearing a bra, otherwise damage will occur.

I've got a Tevion USB turntable which cost about £35 from Aldi and works well enough for me. It came bundled with Audacity software which gives various options for recording quality, output format etc. Recording each LP and labelling each track is time consuming but I'm in no hurry and am steadily working my way through my vinyl collection. It helps that I mainly work from home and sit at the computer for most of the day so I listen and record while I work.

Sounds great, worked from home for the last 8 years and am now back in the office. Miss the flexibility but its nice to have people about.

How little you know Mr R A I don't want to be thin is on "Revenge of the Killer Pussies" which is on pink spattered vinyl not red - honestly Plastics!

I have the others you mention but do you have original copy of the first Guana Batz recording a 4 track ep that includes "Rockin in my coffin" or a purple vinyl copy of Zulu Beat by King Kurt on Thin Slice records,or a bizarre shaped picture disc of a rat laying on a dustbin of Zulu beat, or a blue vinyl copy of Radioactive kid, or a picture disc single Johnny remember me by the Meteors and a copy their Clapham Escalators Ep or an original copy of Love plus one by Haircut one Hundred (??? how did that get in my singles box)

Sorry, it's so long since I've looked in that record box, that the mind forgets (ie; 'R of K P')

I can lay my hands straight onto the 'Rockabilly Psychosis & The Garage Disease' LP though
Not got any King Kurt pic singles anymore, just normal-boing ones
Got 'Mutant Rock' (Meteors), with the bright pink sleeve, & 'The Escalators' My Daddy Is A Vampire EP

Favourite Meteors item in collection?? the 'In Heaven' LP

As I think I've told you before, there's quite a bit of early Restless stuff (when they were better)

Was playing the 'Brian Setzer Orchestra' DVD this afternoon, but I don't think you like that part of his career, do you?

Not that keen on BSO as you know. Escalators doing my daddy is a vampire - are you sure, is this a Nigel lewis bootleg I am not aware of (jealously if so)

Got Rockabilly psychosis and the mutant rock single, if I ever have a tattoo the green face will be the pic.

Less than better Restless - no such thing, at what point did they become less than better in your opinion at "After Midnight" ?

Thought not, but I had a whale of time annoying SWMBO with tracks like 'Jump, Jive & Wail' & 'Gene & Eddie'
Yes, I know it's a 'Cats' track, but the BSO did it also - just Setzer, with drums & 'slap-bass'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjNgkl5tuBc (DVD sequence, prefer the 'official' video, as the dancers are spectacular!)

Still want a Gretsch, & still regret selling my Hofner semi-acoustic ('poor mans Gretsch, but with Bigsby)

Sorry, my 'faux pas' again, I meant 'The Meteors' EP (have to look at things before typing

From my own perspective (from what I've got/heard), it was a case of "Time Gentlemen Please!" after midnight
I stand to be corrected though!

I seem to get repeatedly told to turn my music down.
I cant help it though, my sound system is ridiculously good and it just sounds 'better' when you cant hear anything else!
