Thinking about having a run round this year . . . I’ve done eight but not sure I’ve done one since turning 50

I'm pretty gutted to likely be missing it this year, having done the last two years. But I hope to be back in 2019... possibly lining up a Haworth Hobble/Edale Skyline double, which is just a little too much for me to contemplate this year...

From memory the first was.... 2005 with Sir David Claxton

I seem to remember a sprint finish with a certain Roy Bainbridge - I think he had the edge! (come to think of it, your combined ages still came second to Roy!)

Clackers still has his number. It has ‘7hrs 14 mins. Hard’ written on the back. I think it was only my second fell race. Longer than Ilkley Moor for sure but it changed my life

We held a gate open for Roy B near the Top ‘o the stairs. He didn’t even look at us but simply ran off. Right up there with Wendy Dodds catching me up one year, saying she’d got lost (twice) and had had to pull a 2 inch nail out of her foot, then steaming off at what looked like seven min mile pace in pursuit of another women runner!
