I believe in keeping things simple - a pasta based dish the night before, bacon and egg buttie in the morning and then just a few simple sweets and water during the event.

Gu gels for me too. Small packets, easy to take on board while running and actually taste nice! The combination of energy and Caffeine gives a good boost when you're flagging after a couple of hours.

In winter - I bake some potatoes, cut them up and put in slices of cheese (ideally the stuff with chillies in it) - wrap it up in foil and stick them back in the oven for about 40 mins before I go out. Usually they stay warm for 2 or 3 hours and are just fantastic.
