    Re: The Royal Wedding

Having sat and watched most of this morning I can't help getting a lump in my throat at times. I would never have thought beforehand either. But this is the sort of event that no one anywhere can do like us.
Westminster Abbey looked amazing and the whole event makes me proud to be British.

Watching the Lancaster fly past was incredible.

Good luck to William and Kate - I think they will need some along the way.

It's disgraceful Lilac.....William and Kate are to be known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. What a slap in the face to all of us who had campaigned for them to be honoured as the Marquess and Marchioness of Middleton. I have removed my 8 foot tall Union Jack top hat in protest.

Really not bothered! Didn't watch it so have no idea what's gone on. Weddings are a bit crap though, aren't they? It's the reception afterwards that's decent

Didn't bother watching it live - much preferred to be out running, but seen some 'highlights' since I got home and like WP I must admit it brought a lump to my throat too.

    Re: The Royal Wedding

Didn't set out to watch it, but inevitaby caught some of it while eating breakfast/getting ready to go out, & I enjoyed what I saw.

She looked beautiful, they look like a lovely couple and genuinely happy, so best of luck to them. I'm not a fervent, flag-waving Royalist, but I do think we'd be a lesser country without the Monarchy.

Whilst it did make me proud to be British, the cynic in me reflected that it's a shame one of the few things we can still get right are outdated and arcane ceremonies.

Judging by the numbers out on Bleaklow and Kinder, there's a fair few people who don't give a stuff.
