    Cake Race

As I was getting my running kit ready for the weekend (all pressed and folded at the end of the bed, as you do) - shorts, socks, vest, walshes, pins, oven gloves - - - I realised that I haven't seen anything yet on the Forums about the Cake Race from Diggle on 1st May

I assume that it is stiil the same arrangments as for the former Autumn Leaves race which I did a couple of years ago: arrive on time / enter race / enter cake / run race / don't win race / don't win cake competition / help clear cakes table / feel satisfied although slightly ill.
    Dumb enough to start

I will be there Tourist....with the calendar change it will seem strange without the gale force wind blowing into your face on the homeward leg...could be on for a PB

Is this an easy race to follow, i.e. follow the crowd and hope for the best? Just wondering, because the forecast looks a bit rubbish for tomorrow and I don't fancy doing much nav.

Cheers, I'm hoping I'll be fit enough to keep up with the main field, failing that I'll just try and stay ahead of the sweep team!!

I've not done it - but there is the following description (suggests part-marked too)
    http://www.saddleworth-runners.co.uk...-autumn-leaves
From piecing together two maps it doesn't look too hard - I didn't quite get the bit around the cricket ground - but implication is that that is flagged

The important bit: photos of the cakes from last time yum to tempt you oh and it is flagged.
11am start. As with all Saddleworth races there will be a kit check so don't forget the bum bag, windproof whole body cover, additional body cover appropriate for weather conditions, compass and map suitable for navigating the course and a whistle
