    Buckden Pike

I'm thinking of doing this on 16th June to give me a rough idea of what Great Whernside will be like in October. Will it give me a good idea ? Anyone else dabbling ?

Buckden Pike is one of my favourites. It's steeper than Great Whernside especially the initial climb/final descent and has a level section at the top whereas Great Whernside is simply up and down.

    Course map here.

Going through the stream and up is just another climb,
    BUT
After 3.75 miles this 45 or mabe 50 degree slope with rocks, rabbit holes and a slippy rocky stream about 300ft below certainly focuses the mind.
You want to get down quickly but your brain and quads have other ideas.
    Can't wait for race day.

    I agree, David and Stagger.

In my view Buckden Pike and Pen y Fan are the best short races in the calendar.

I'll be there again this year along with a few others who are camping at Kettlewell so we can enjoy a few beers in the evening.

Sounds a good idea. Does it start at noon from outside the pub?

What's the campsite like at Kettlewell ? It sounds very basic from what I read.
