Never done Borrowdale but have run over parts of the route and have done Wasdale, Jura, Stuc, Glen Rosa and a few other Scottish races in Crosslites so I'd say they ok.

Thanks jmacewan - that sounds like a positive recommendation for them. ;-)
It's not so much the shoes on your feet, its the feet in the shoes that will get you round
Philosophical indeed. The feet and legs should be up to the challenge. Just posted my entry for Holme Moss; should give at least some indication of how I may fare in August.
Thanks for all the advice. I purchased some Mudclaws on my trip up to the Lakes this w/e, and tested them out. Couldn't believe the amount of grip on wet grass compared to the Wave Harriers - I know I shouldn't be surprised, but still... I eyed up the X-Talons but got the 333s, partly because that's what Lakes Runner had in stock in my size, and partly because they double as walking boots for when I'm lugging my 2 year-old up a hill. Haven't really tried in anger on wet rock yet (not that there was any shortage of it on Saturday!) but played a bit on some scree. I'll wear them for Borrowdale and see how I get on.
Noticed "one or two" people at Borrowdale wearing 333s.
I was more than happy with how they performed (shame about me though!), and spent most of the time very pleased that I was not wearing the Wave Harriers. That said, I wish the laces stayed as tight as they do on the WHs. Going to get some lock laces based on recommendations elsewhere in the forum, or maybe just swap the laces from a worn-out pair of WHs
