    Tideswell

    Anybody doing Tideswell tomorrow?
I know the car park where registration is, but don't know the route - can anybody shed any light...?

    Re: Tideswell

From the Car Park just through Tideswell you run down a hard packed well surfaced track to Millers Dale. Cross the old railway & river for a steep but runnable climb up through a couple of fields. A mile and a half ish on undulating fields and tracks before you hit one of the most horrendous decents I've ever come across - through dense woods in semi dark on wet limestone - I walked most of the decent last time i did it! Then you have about 500 yards on a road and back up the track you first run down.

Year after year I badgered the organiser to reverse the route as the decent really is hairy, and the initial climb would be fantastic coming down, but he comes up with some pathetic reason not to. I even tried to mutiny last time & persuade Lloyd to take us round the course in reverse.

If you've found a shoe that grips on glacier like wet limestone take them - you'll need them, but the race rivals Sheldon for blind stupidity of route choice.

    Thanks guys.
I'd found that "downsizer" page before, but found it to be completely inactive/useless.
Since you seemed so insistent that the Registration link ought to work, I tried it in Internet Explorer (rather than Firefox, which is what I normally use) and Hey Presto! Everything works OK

Blind stupidity of route choice eh? Looks like a great one for that there "lunatic running fringe". When is it again?

Ran it tonight. It's quite a nice little race really. A very fast start, and quite a bit of track but a pleasant climb and fun descent. I wouldn't describe it as dangerous.
