As you said the pressure of being team leader is different to the role of super domestique and not everyone can handle it, it would be interesting to see how he performed.
Chris Froome has signed a 3 year conract with Sky so he should get his chance as team leader in one of the Grand Tours

And carlos sastre announces his retirement. Not sure how many grand tours he has finished in but its a lot. Not even a whiff of a doping scandal.Armstrong said the year he won the tour that it was a joke.I wonder in time as the years go by who will be the more content rider

Looks like a change of priority for Bradley Wiggins and Team Sky next year

That's exactly why Cav should NOT join the Sky team.
They will support Wiggins to the top 5 and Cav will miss out on stage wins.

Wiggins will never win the tour with Sky because he is not a go enough climber and Sky lack tactic's.

Got to agree with you there, the focus at Sky would definitely on Wiggins for the GC with Cav's stage wins as an after thought. To say that Cav reckoned he had decided by the end of July on his team for next season its taking some time for it to be announced

Who would you want him to ride for then trevor ?.Wiggins would probably never win the tour with anyone but my personal view that for cycling in the uk in general and for team sky that to have cavendish and wiggins in the same team would be awsome. They both could line up in the tour next year and wiggins fall off his bike on the first day. Sky will maximise all options. The one rider, one race mentality isnt for sky in the future, especially in the tour.

He wasnt allowed to annouce his new team until august. And with cavendish you will get the i am contracted to htc until the end of the season. He has always lived by that and takes that very seriously.Add in the fact that he has to do deals for the world championship road race. Palms uave to be greased for this one

I dont suppose he could be waiting until after the Worlds could he, if he won on Sunday that would potentially bump up his salary even more.

As i have said before his choice is limited by the number of teams that could afford him. BMC seem to have a bottomless pit of money but with Evans signed up for the next 3 years he will be their main focus for the Tour. That probably leaves Sky, Geenedge and Quick Step-Omega Pharma. They all have their pros and cons, Sky would raise his profile in this country but will be focussing on Wiggins for the Tour, Greenedge would be able to build a team round him but are a new and untried team, Quick Step could be a possibility because of his popularity in Belgium but they already have Greipel
