Hoka Speedgoat 2
Anyone tried the Speedgoat 2. I had the original and found the toe box too narrow. Interested to hear if they've addressed this and overall thoughts on the shoe. Would it be suitable for the Tour De Helvellyn?
cheers

It is just me, but I would not use something with such a thick sole for a race like this. It is quite rough ground in places.
That race is so dependent on conditions underfoot, but I suppose things are pretty good at the moment,so grip should not be a major issue.

I've got the SG2, but never had the SG1, so can't compare.
Love them for rough trails - was running the Devil o' the Highlands earlier this year ( top half of West Highland Way ) and after some training runs where felt my feet were getting beaten up in both Inov8 Trailtalon 290s and Hoka Challenger ATR4s, got a pair of SG2s at the last minute, wore them straight out of the box, and they were amazing.
Toe box is better than SG1 I believe, but still narrow compared to other Hokas, I went up 0.5 a size from my normal Hoka size.
Don't know what the terrain is like for TdH so can't comment
