Good luck at Borrowdale Andy! Helen says to give it some welly (perhaps she meant X-talon?).

Yes - I'd stick with the 333's for Borrowdale (330's for me which just last and last). If its still dry I might go with 315s

I don't think my 272s are lasting very well. I cleaned 'em off the other night and noticed that some of the studs aren't looking very good, some of the rear ones were on the point of coming off. I've superglued them back on! Also, noticed that the sole was coming away from the midsole on one side, superglued that too. We'll see much longer they last ....

Richard, i didn't find them super smashing great on any surface, i found them pretty pedestrian. For example: that descent at the Hawkswick Dash at the weekend is one i'd hate to attempt in 212s; very slippy and full of loose bits, much more suited to a Mudclaw or a Walsh sole. 212s just didn't seem to bite into anything. That said though, you should find them fine for flatter courses such as Gargrave Show.
I have just seen this and I disagree I'm afraid! I did the Hawkswick dash and came in as 1st V50 which surprised me and the kids even more!! however I found the talons more than suitable for the terrain and especially the steep top climb and the hideous near vertical decent. I think like many things its a matter of personal preference but I wear talons for most races especially short and mediums on all types of terrain and find the soles more than adequate. The only thing though.....isn't it a starnge question to ask after you have bought the shoes? I'd probably ask the questions prior to the purchase?!
