The Helsby RC/Congleton Harriers outing on Saturday is postponed due to injury + illness + lack of fitness + clash of fixtures! I hope we'll set up another date in the spring some time. Of course anyone can do it any time anyway! If you do, have a good run. I'll post something once we've another date.

Just got a passout for Saturday (5 Nov) & I'm going to give this a go if anyone wants to join me. I'm not particularly fit at the moment & expect to take about 7 to 7.5 hours. I'm parking up at Disley, taking the train to Kidsgrove & running back to Disley. Disley d 8:17, Stockport a 8:41, d 8:58, Kidsgrove a 9:32. It'll be getting dark by 4:30ish so I'm taking a headtorch just in case. No support, carry your own food & drink.

Well that took me a bit longer than I expected, even given my low level of fitness at the moment. 7:45. Good weather conditions, but rather muddy. I was joined by Liz from Congleton Harriers, who spent about half her Saturday waiting for me to catch up. She's thinking of having a go at the BG next year, & I suspect it could be quite a fast one. Out of my league anyway! If I get back to full fitness I think I ought to be able to get under 7 hours.
I probably will have another go next year, because this is a really good route. Quite a few steep climbs, following the hills north along the western edge of the Peak District (the route's easy enough to find on the web, & it's marked on maps). The views across the Cheshire Plain must be tremendous in clear weather - yesterday was pretty hazy.

Well Done Splatcher!
those views out over the Cheshire plain are the bread and butter of my training runs - e.g. from Bowstones above Lyme Park
Scramble the rock face through the glare of morning sun — to run
This route sounds good, and as I live in north staffs I would look to do a start at Disley, finish at Kidsgrove...anyone done it north to south who can advise?
