Thread: Gritstone Trail

Had a crack at his today since it's an obvious trail local to me. Great day out. Started at Kidsgrove and spent a leisurely 8hrs getting to Disley. At Lyme Park there are 2 route options. I took the route to the hall and noticed the GT signs disappeared, but luckily I know the area well!

Done this on Saturday in just under 8 hours. I see in the earlier comments people mentioned that it can be very wet and I can see what they mean. Luckily enough the weather has been so dry lately that all of the muddy bits were pretty crusty so no problems on that front. Never been to (or even heard of) Kidsgrove before, and I can see why; it not much of a place! I am training for the LDWA North York Moors 100 in May so Kidsgrove was not the end. After a very nice Chicken Kebab, I had 25 Km on the canal back to Macclesfield, to get the train back to Stockport. Not a bad route, enjoyable day out.
