    Re: lightweight tents

    Hi all.

I'm in a similar position; planning to do my first M-Marathon this year (RAB). Currently I have a Terra Nova Voyager, used for backpacking. But guess a bit too big for a MM; planning to trade it in for the Vaude Lizard or Hogan.
Would the Lizard be too small (me and my brother are both 187/ 6,2) to sit up in? Or is the weight difference significant enough (1.7 vs 1,1 kg) to lose some comfort?
    Hope you can help.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I looked around recently for a lightweight robust(ish) tent for MM's. I settled on the Vaude Power Lizard UL - bought for £300 (sale) from White & Bishops in Northampton.

So far its only been errected in the garden and first impressions are good, although it needed fine tuning / fettling to stop the inner and outer sheets from touching. Overall it's well engineered, all the materials are lightweight (inc the groundsheet) so it will have to be treated with care (e.g inspect the ground for sharp stones before pitching!!).

I have used a an old superlight voyager for several MMs and smile when I see people packed in to these tiny tents. Unless your going to be up there with the leaders, I dont think it would offer you much of an advantage.
