    Default Runs near Llandrindod Wells?

Getting away from pancake Cambridge for a few days. Looking for scenery and plenty of climb, for 1 to 5 hours. Happy to drive a bit for the longer runs.

What's water like in Wales - do I need to carry some, or is it fairly safe to drink?

    Ben

Replying to my own question, have just discovered that the OMM 09 was held just down the road, so I will be borrowing my mate's map of the score course and heading out for some fun. And he carried iodine (but didn't use it ).

Could still use suggestions for shorter runs from Dod itself.

you'll find plenty to do on the Elan valleys for long runs I have some excellent routes up there. Regards water, I've been drinking it there for 15 years no worries. But, this time of year be sensible especially with the low water levels and low rainfall, don't drink "stale" water. Look for something running a bit and obviously better on high ground. You will hear some underground gutters running, if you hear one and don't fall down it and break a leg - have a drink! I've never been too worried about dead sheep, but I wouldn't drink below a farm.
Can PM me if you want some routes, I know where the paths are etc.

Glad you got back ok. Complete fluke to meet you in the middle of nowhere, we only decided to have a walk over there this morning and had no route in mind and no thoughts of seeing you about.
Pleased you enjoyed our "Welsh Tussocks", but the big ones are over the other side .

BTW that path I was eyeing up took me straight down to a farm at the bottom and out of the road on a marked footpath. Definitely the quickest way down - though somewhat overgrown. There were a lot of trods in places going more or less where I wanted to be - wondered if some of them were left over from the OMM - and "maintained" by people like me...
