    Mountain Bike Insurance

Just bought myself an expensive new mountain bike (yipee) and so want to make sure it is insured. Rang up the home insurance to bolt it onto our policy and although it is insured in the home they will not insure outside the home.

Anyone had to get specific bike insurance out there and from whom?

    Ta muchly.

British Cycling do insurance, through a broker. I added the outside the house bit onto my home insurance. I have my expensive bikes mentioned on the policy, pay a little extra and they are insured for everything but racing, which gets covered by BC.

Yeah I'm really cross they won't just let me pay extra to bolt it onto our home insurance. We'll change home insurance soon I think but in the meantime I want the bike covered as I think it's a bit nickable (never had a nickable bike before!).

Haven't checked BC yet but CTC require you to be a member by the looks of it.

I don't know any specific details, but a lot of people previously have mentioned Marks and Spencer having good coverage for bikes as standard on their home insurance policies.
