To the Regiment - I Wish I Was There
If you fancy a long day out visiting a boat (plane) load of wrecks you coul try this:
http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...ighlight=treck
On the walk in from the Snake (which is the easiest way), walk along the Pennine Way (North) for around 35 minutes. The flag stones run out, keep your eyes peeled for a coffin shaped stone on the left. The stone denotes a footpath heading west to a stream, be careful to pick up the path again after the stream. You will start to climb through the groughs and should come out at the B29 Wreck. In poor visibilty it is easy to take the wrong line after the stream, although the atmosphere of the wreck is better in misty, poor weather. About one hour of walking......Enjoy.

Im going to be at shelf moor as well... 30 and 31 I have friends up, and they are not the kind of people that will want to be dragged around 18miles of boggy amusement.
hmmm what are you up to in the week after?
Danbert you should get hold of the Ron Collier book about the Peak Wrecks if you art interested in them. Not sure which volume you would need as mine were lent out some time ago. Probably mooching around the Bermuda Triangle. Oh and some say there are BIG CATS on Bleaklow.
Tao begets one. One begets two. Two begets all things.
And UFOs...

Oh man... the big cat thing... I had an interesting episode while wandering up to Bleaklow for some night nav a few months ago. I was minding my own business, heading up over Shire hill when I was stopped by 2 randoms... as in young men in blacked out faces and black tracksuits telling me that tonight "wasn't a good night to be out, if you take my meaning"
apparently there was a "cougar" on the lose (I don't know if they meant a big cat or a predatory older woman), and that the park ranger had told them about it not 20 mins before... it being nigh on midnight, I wondered a little about this...
anyhow, I thanked them for their warning, and carried on.
"where are you going mate?"
"uh.... just Bleaklow and around"
"at this time of night?? .... You're MENTAL"
never did see the cougar. Most disappointed.
on second thoughts, should this be in the wildlife thread?
