I have been using Inov-8 Roclite 318s for some time now and in fact I am on my second pair. I have found them to be an excellent fit, comfortable and durable, I recently ran around the Yorkshire Three Peaks in them and they did not give me any issues at all even on slippery rock.
However last night I ran a section of the Cleveland Way after dark with my headtorch on, the route took me past Oakdale Reservoir and it was drizzling with rain.
To my astonishment I slipped and almost fell - a few yards further on the same thing happened, and then again just as I was nearing the road at square corner, it was then that I realised the problem with the shoes.
The sole on the 318 has absolutely no grip at all on wet frogs, and the track was covered in them - obviously once I realised this I was very careful where I put my feet both to avoid further mishap and any further injury to the frog community.
I am aware that the 318 uses Inov-8 endurance rubber for the sole and I wonder if the sticky rubber 295 sole would be any better.
I do think that Inov-8 may need to look at this problem with lack of grip on wet frogs or if Inov-8 insider could give an insight ?
