Also posted in the beginners thread as its what I am so apologies if I've wasted your time.
Am doing the Long Mynd Hike didnt realise the amount of road work involved. Can people recommend a good road shoe that could cope with a bit of off-road?

I wear New Balance MT101s on the road, trails and occasionally the fells - they cope very well and they're pretty cheap (£50) too.
Inov8 flyrocs are pretty good, they can cope with most kind of terrain.
Yep, I use my FlyRocs for trails, tracks and roads and hard stuff when needed and they're comfortable and versatile. Great for running, walking, hiking and have also used them on the MTB. Got them on now in fact ... for typing in!
What about Salomons cross max? Designed as a shoe that you can run on road and trail.
