    A Friendly Greeting?

I had a little run by the Mersey today with the dog and there were joggers a plenty on the banks. I always give fellow runners a nod or a "hello", maybe it's a cycling thing (cyclists always do this), but many don't reciprocate.

Maybe it's me but I find this a bit rude! What does everyone else reckon? Are you a nodder or a blanker?

I usually raise a hand. I find reactions differ depending upon where I'm running, the more 'rural', the more social the greeting. A lunch time run along the Bridgewater Canal in Manchester typically elicits no responses. A weekend run over Winter Hill normally gets a wave back or a "hi".

I always say a cheery hello to walkers, cyclists and runners...motorbikers have a special tilt of the head that they give each other. I mostly get a friendly response...sometimes not and if not, it tends to be runners on the road or occasionally dumbfounded walkers that wonder why I'm running up a hill but I make no assumptions about why not.

I passed a road runner by Didsbury Golf Course tonight, cheerily said "good evening" and he looked at me like I was right weirdo!! I think Mr B may be correct.

I'll talk to anyone, often get blanked. Strangely, got blanked by a road cyclist whilst out on the MTB. Next time i saw him i was on the road bike and he spoke to me???

I nearly always say something or at least give a wave.
I realised I'd become an adopted Yorkshireman when I heard myself grunting "Ey up" and "A'reet".

Road runners blankers? Rubbish. You get a mix of responses from all types. Personally I'm a smile and cheery greeting sort whether road running, cycling, hiking or fell running

Yes, but I was in a forest in Catalunya and the other runner looked slightly confused.
