You're right I'd rather have one pretty lady smile and say hello and a dozen fat lads ignoring me! It's pretty rare when that happens though....
I find it very annoying with the rudeness by other runners when they ignore a friendly hello, nod or wave.
At my last place of work (Im in the Forces) I finally lost my rag (after many weeks of this happening) and gave someone my opinion as they ran past and ignored me - calling after him with various derogatory comments and name calling, naturally with substantial swearing breaking up the sentance. Unfortunately he knew where I worked and the fact that he out-ranked me, so took it upon himself to come into our open-plan office and give me a public bollocking. Being not very happy with this I decided that I would have the last word on the subject and suggested that he may wish to alter his running programme as it would assist him with losing his excessive weight and actually produce some results. Anyway he looked devastated and scurried off !!

... continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.
I always say hello, or gesture in some friendly way. Dog walkers are generally receptive. Makes me laugh (sort of) when a runner blanks you as though what they're doing is too important to be interupted by a quick hello.
Doesn't happen often I'm glad to say.
I'm not going running in Herefordshire.
