    Ultra Trail Tramuntana.

Anyone had a go at this?. Spent a bit of time over there this year and going back again in a few weeks! spotted this race and thinking of applying for April next year. Entry is 100 scudos (opens in October) but it should be some experience. 100k from Andratx to Pollensa over the Tramuntana mountain range, been on the website and theres some good deals for accom and stuff.

I had a look, liked what I saw and despatched the Euros across the water.

364 out of 400 already entered in the 105 km in the 2 days or so since entries opened; 312 out of 400 in the 62 km.

Time for action if you are interested!

aaaahh Im very poor at the minute, didn't think it would fill up that quickly at all! better try and earn some funds sharpish! really keen on doing this as its such an amazing landmark south to north of the island to run all that during in a race would be an incredible experience. Sure I can work something out.

Sounds a great event. I was lucky enough to do a spot of backpacking on a similar route from Soller to Pollensa a few years ago. There's a superb gorge that offers some fine scrambling and quite an adventurous crossing of the peaks of Masanella and Thoma (may have got spelling wrong). It will definitely give a totally different picture of Majorca than the typical tourist fayre. Have fun!

    I love Majorca, me.
It's dead easy to get out of the package holiday hotspots into an outdoor pursuiters paradise
I've never heard of this event before and assumed it was somewhere in South America.

Will definitely have to try and do it in the next couple of years...

The gorge is the Torrente de Pareis and the full ascent from Sa Calobra is quite an undertaking.

Puig Tomir is the big peak at the head of the Pollensa valley. The races go under this peak.

It looks like the finishing section is the "Old Road" from the monastery at Lluc to Pollensa.

And the Cavall Bernat ridge, just outside Puerto Pollensa, is a fine limestone scramble with a 350 metre drop off on the NE side straight down to the sea!

All covered in Cicerone's "Walking in Mallorca" by June Parker.

As MarkL said above, I love Mallorca me and this is the first time in 8 years we won't be there this week :-( We have plenty of photos of the mountains and some are here.
