Yeah I've done it from Huddersfield to Manchester and then out in Manchester. Was a fantastic day out from what I can remember. Gets very busy at the various pubs, some places also have more than one pub that's worth going to too. I'll post more info later if you want when I can get on my computer and off the phone?

We did Manchester to Leeds..brilliant fun, some great places, some hovels, but generally good beer. We did it as a group of almost 20 on a stag do, the look on the bar maids faces when you ask for 20 pints of hand pulled ale..by the time she'd finished the last one we were on the second round..

Right there's 3 pubs alone in Huddersfield that you should go in. The Kings head (avoid the head of steam at the other end of the station), the sportsman, and the grove are all well worth it (and close top the station). Then there's 2 in Marsden, can't remember the name of the first but it's as soon as you come out of the station, then the riverhead is further down the hill. Also worth carrying on into MCR for the excellent marble beer house, or there other bar on Thomas st if you fancy a heavy selection of belgian beer. You've then got port street beer house a few minutes walk away which is open until the early hours. it might also be worth your while to start in Leeds, as the Leeds brew pub is just over the road from the station, and rather good. I have little recollection of the other places, but don't remember any being awful and as for dives what does that matter? It's the quality of the beer that counts - the kings head is case in point.

if you're going to the Marble, the Smithfield Hotel's on the way there, they always have a good selection, and the Crown & kettle's not bad.
