The best 2 sections of motorway are the elevated section of the M6 just south of Manchester and the bit on the M1 just by where the cooling towers used to be. But only when I'm on the north bound carriage way.

My island is very nice
Between junctions 33 & 34 on the M6 you get a good view of the Ashton Memorial, my great grandad was a stonemason who worked on that just over 100 years ago.
Just north of that you get a nice view of the Young Offenders Institute, i always thought that was built in a good spot for a quick escape. Over the fence, meet up with a car on the hard shoulder and away

The M50. A great secret. OK, it may only have 2 lanes but it has hardly any traffic, just a handful of junctions, views of the Malverns at the east and Forest of Dean and Black Mountains at the west. It rises and falls, twists and turns. And, late at night, it is empty and unlit. Hmmm, hmmm!

M1 northbound J21 to 21A - means I'm going home from work.
Apart from that, M6 northbound after you've got past the signs for Manchester, Blackpool etc and you know you're getting near to the Lakes. Always feels good.
Agree with what's been said about M6 N of Blackpool, especially the Howgills stretch, also agree with Wheeze about the M50 views but growing up down south my early favourite stretch of Motorway was the M40 Stokenchurch Gap - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stokenchurch_Gap
M62 Junction 21
Some fine running around that area.
That section of Motorway sure does offer some good ground. Anywhere between 20 and 22 on the M62 offers good running ground.
If you fancied a long run you could run round the outer edge of the M60. Would make for an interesting day out if anyone fancies a long run one weekend.
