That's normally where I stash my purse of jellybabies on the way out, ready to collect them for the climb back up the roaches on the way back.
I once left them on the far bank of the Dane, but ran past them, and had to cross the river 4 times rather than 2 - I am not sure the energy-fix was sufficient recompense.

The Roaches was my first ever fell race and I remember being so knackered I ate a Chewit I found on the path coming back over the top at the end.

Normally a bleach solution is advised.. doubt that would harm fell shoes..

Seems fair enough really, quite pragmatic management of the situation.. and they could quite easily ban anything from happening..

Probably not Tim, but the scotch would at least dull your sense of smell when it comes to the out and back slurry-fest!

It's a fine race with a bit of everything thrown in.

Wondered what people thought of the amended route today? I thought it was more picturesque, but obviously tougher, that extra 3 mile near finished me off, must take more food next year!

Enjoyed the race.. I'd never done the old course but been around there a lot in training. Gave more good fast running which suited me... maybe I'm a little biased though having a good run..

Anyone know who the photographers were around the course?

After a long hot bath and some more grub I now feel that it was a nice change with some good views of bits of the Moorlands that we don't normally see. I was going so slow I could take it all in. Quite a bit more ascent as we dropped right down on the route change before climbing back up again. Hopefully the bilberries willhave fought off the dreaded lurgy before next year. Hope the missing two runners turned up! Thanks to you, Andrew and the others for a great day out.
