    I take it you've never met Tony Greenbank? One of Lakeland climbing's great characters.

    I like the first (currently only) comment - "fell runners scare me ..."

    No, I'd never heard of him - I'm not into climbing at all.

    By the way walkers often panic and scatter as I thunder (trudge) towards them I'd say a lot of people of scared of fell runners.

    If you'd been in a pub at the same time as him you'd know :w00t: Lots of "Hey!", "Wow!", "Fantastic man!" always really enthusiastic. He took over Harry Griffin's column in the Guardian, hence this piece. Wrote lots of outdoor educational style stuff in the 1960s and early 1970s.

    I was just going to post a similar comment Bob from the second comment....)

    "Montfleury":
    Fell runners may scare you, ivanpope, but Joss Naylor scares us fell runners.

    Tony is a true gent and has written many a fine word on fellrunning.

    HH, How's Tony doing? I used to see him around Ambleside quite often, but he's since moved to NW Lakes. I think it was Tony who was hit by a cyclist at the Ambleside Sports, and subsequently taken to hospital.
    Why walk when you can run.
