    Best easy to use camera

I'd be glad of recommendations for a light, small, simple to use camera, reasonably priced that I could even take running. I know people use their mobile phones, but mine doesn't take photos (well it only cost £3.40) and it seems daft to buy a new one specially. If there is a thread about this already, I can't find it.

What's your budget? For £140 you could get a pretty decent waterproof/shockproof number like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Olympus-TOUG...9907594&sr=8-3

If you're not bothered about toughness have a look in Tesco - they had some nice Nikon and Panasonic point and shoot cameras on offer recently. My mum got a Nikon for less than £100 it's very light and small - takes lovely pics too.

You WILL drop it eventually - an Olympus tough sounds an excellent suggestion.

In my experience bumbags (and the wearers of bumbags) destroy cameras. A padded, waterproof is a must.

Happy with my wife's sony cybershot tx series camera. Nice and compact, decent shots in poor light and not too fragile (yet). Definately recomend a case, I go for a padded case and then put it in a small drybag if the weather looks iffy.

Most of the time though, I take pics on my (£30 from tesco) phone.

I have been very happy with an Olympus mju850. water resistant and shockproof. Just point and shoot. Photos turn out ok too http://sbrtrfr.blogspot.com/2011/10/...carneddau.html

The best point and shoot available today is the Canon S100 - Fact. i've got the S95 and it's been an amazing camera. It's expensive, but you asked for the best.

Lumix TZ series, if they aren't beyond your budget, are worth looking at and bear in mind that cameras are highly subjective - what works for me may well not work for you so go and look at them, handle them and ask questions because there isn't a "best available today" camera. sbrt's recommendation is worth looking at, not least because it will need less looking after and if you prefer not to have a waterproof camera then take a dry bag with you for the camera.
