    Re: The Yorkshire Brownlees

    they are based in leeds,
they live in yorkshire, own a house in yorkshire, they were brought up in yorkshire and supported every inch of the way by a yorkshire school, yorkshire local authority, yorkshire teachers, yorkshire running club, swam for and supported by yorkshire, supported by yorkshire press, coached by a yorkshire coach.
    they also pay yorkshire taxes.
but most of all they enjoy there sport and dont take it too seriously,
unlike many 'top athletes'they support yorkshire races and event organisers, including the fra.
they are trying to give something back, over and above winning races,is that really a bad thing?

Those lads are silk in a glass class. I think we can allow them a little bit of loyality towards there county. Besides the conditions and circumstances in Yorkshire whilst growing up has got them to where they are now.

At the age of about 14 they were cycling 10 miles to school, running in their lunch hours & then cycling home again. They've worked bloody hard to get where they are. Have you seen how footballers celebrate ? That's overdoing it. These lads are humble, but proud to be from Yorkshire as I am proud that they are from Yorkshire.

I'm proud they are too and I'm from Lancashire. Good for them.

Still not sure I'd take them on an expedition though... what are they like at brewing up?

    Johnny is 21 & Alistair is 23.

Quite incredible that a fellow athlete (or maybe not, maybe a failed athlete & hence the jealousy ?) would come on here & criticise such nice, down to earth lads.

I hope that in just under 12 months time I am stood near the finish line of the Olympic TRI because I will have two Yorkshire Flags.

What would be better is if the brothers only needed one, and crossed the line with the Yorkshire rose flying in between them!
