    UTMB etc 2012

Registration opens on 16 December. Details here:

    http://www.ultratrailmb.com/page/139/Enrolment.html

For anyone relying on a Bob Graham completion during 2010 or 2011, details of all successful completions up to and including member number 1710, Gary Thorpe, have been provided to the UTMB organisers.

Not sure if anyone would know the answer to this; when you enter the draw for a place in the various UTMB races, does exceeding the minimum point total give you more chance of obtaining a place, with your application perhaps being seen to have more ‘merit’ as it were, or is it instead a case of everybody who meets the minimum standard being put into a hat and then it’s purely a matter of chance?

I suspect it's the latter, Dave.

I think the latter, otherwise there would be people doing all events possible to get huge numbers of points. I only have 6 points, despite doing BG X 2, Ramsay and Paddy B.

Is there a list of UK races which count towards one's points total? I had a quick look at the UTMB web-site and it didn't seem to show which events count; only confirm the number of points if you put in a race that's a counter

    EDIT:

    I found this

I was about to post the full list, but they seem to have switched over to a search type proposition instead:

The full list was getting rather unmanageable mind.

Just tested the search function and it does produce answers.

The more helpful thing is that the on-line entry form often recognises names and brings up the associated qualifying data automatically.

I guess if they don't move back to a complete listing anywhere on the UTMB site, this will become out of date in due course.

The UK "list" has grown quite considerably in recent years.
