Envious of you all doing any of the races, especially the UTMB. I only have exeperience of the UTMB, each one has been a great adventure, and slightly adverse weather has only added to the fond memories.

Good luck to you all, and remember to enjoy it.

Just a thought ,i am flying out tomorrow for the UTMB
with easyjet and intended taking my poles in my hand luggage and am wondering whether they will get past security, Im sure ive done it before without problems but wonder if anyone has advice, i dont mind a pair of toe clippers being confiscated but i would rather hang on to my poles even if i have to leave them at home.

Presumably the 3 lads from West of the Pennines whose pre-event interview went:

"Well, we're gonna run the first kilometere really, really fast and then hang on from there."

Not sure the English humour will have struck a chord with the locals but I hope those 3 lads are coping well with the miles and the shitty weather.

The Friday night forecast is grim; up to 10 cms of fresh snow and temps as low as -10 C with the wind chill.

    Should be fun out there.

    Carnage by Courmayeur?!

This is the latest bulletin from UTMB race control.

I guess they know what the conditions are like out there, but the initial feeling is one of massive disappointment that we won't get to run the proper course.

Having someone who has just finished the TDS sat right next to me, conditions were a little rough but not life threatening.

    Bugger!
