I think a 2 day run over the TDS course would be a good place to start, if you can get out there once the snow has strted to thaw.

Although it looks like they will make it harder to get in. 7 points from 3 races! I might try again but 2013 will be a year to go to the states for a 100.

Yeah they've just posted that on their Twitter: "New rules for 2013! UTMB: 7 points acquired in 2010 and/or 2011 (in 3 races max). CCC®: 2 points."

That'll be 8 points, so yes.

    Re: UTMB etc 2012

From the Forum on the UTMB website via Nathalie who is one of the permanent staff:

Here is an update for the registrations for the 2012 The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc®.
Pre-registration has been open since December 16th and will close on January 9th at midnight (Paris time). A draw will then be organised, the results of which will be announced on January 20th.
To date, 8100 runners, representing 65 different nations, are candidates, which is an increase of about 24 % with regard to the two previous years.
The UTMB®, as of today, is over-subscribed at 165 %, the CCC® 130 %, whereas 800 runners are already candidates for the TDS and 60 teams for the PTL.
There will, therefore, be an important draw concerning the UTMB® and the CCC®, the TDS and the PTL look as if they will also be full.
Consequently, if the TDS and the PTL are, at present, the only events allowing almost certain participation in 2012, they will not have sufficient capacity to accommodate those who would like to be transferred following an unfavourable result in either the draw for the UTMB® or for the CCC®.

    Ouch!

    Re: UTMB etc 2012

That's a bit out of date, this is the latest:

The UTMB® is 195% full, with 800 runners (losers in the 2011 draw and whom therefore have priority for 2012) definitively registered. There will be therefore be, for those runners pre-registered, a draw with unfortunately only less than a one in two chance of success.

The CCC® is165% full. There will therefore, for those runners pre-registered, be a draw with a 60 out 100 chance of success.

I can now see why they intend to up the qualification points, especially if all of those that miss out this year are allocated a place next year.....

    Hi,
Looks like the UTMB & co is well oversubscribed, again... if you are looking to go to France end of august,
the Grand Raid des Pyrenees still has a few places on the 80 and 160. I am also still looking for a runner to join our team for the Raid240.
This is a beautiful part of the haute pyrennees with a climb up the Pic du Midi(2800m+)
