    Critters They Bite

    Hi All,

Im just back from a great weekend camping in the lakes, all was grand except the bloody midges. My legs and ankles and ears are as spotty as a teenagers chin.

I spent most of friday night being bitten to death, it was almost to the point of ruining my weekend.

I seemed to get it a lot more than my mates also. I had been for a run and not showered . So I think it could have been the sweat.

The guy in the next tent recommended avon skin so soft

Some other people on the camp site had all sorts of burners going on.

Another chap recommended Marmite and my mate recommended taking up smoking.

Does anyone out there have any bulletproof deterent or secret tips to keep these little buggers at bay over the summer.

Oh by the way Im going to Scotland in August, Ive been told im in for a real treat up there, well the midges are.

    Thanks
    Jamie

Marmite's great. Just smear it all over any exposed body parts, but be sure to leave some to put in your butties with the fish paste.
I'm gonna get that cwazy gwouse...

I've heard about the Marmite Marg,

I spent my lunch hour researching midges. Apparantly its only the female ones that bite, and they need blood to lay eggs.

    How good am I

Just stay away from the female ones then. Easy. And how do you tell which ones are the females?

Yes, Skin Sosoft is the best.
Plenty midges in August, wear light coloured clothing as they prefer to breed in dark conditions.
Evidently its the exhalation of CO2 that attracts them, so DON'T BREATH.

    Regards,

    Max.

I just had a week in the Highlands (Braemar) and didn't spot a single midge!
