Good luck Simon. Hope it goes well. I remember you helping me 5 years ago on leg one and you knew it like the back of your hand then - you must know it with your eyes closed now!

Just back from my final BG training week and it all went pretty well:
Tues - leg 2 out and back, seriously crappy weather for most of the day. Weather cleared in the early evening as we were coming back over Helvellyn
Weds - Parked at Honister and went over to Wasdale via the Moses trod, then Leg 4
Thurs - nowt, p*ssed it down all day (hard)
Fri - Seathwaite up on to Scafell range/leg 3, Lord's Rake/WWT to Scafell (snow) and then down to Wasdale. Back to Seathwaite via Styhead Pass
Sat - Partial OCT recce with some mates, peeled off on Greenup Edge and scooted back to Langdale
I reckon that's over 75 miles and 30,000ft+ of climb, I couldn't have done much more. I *may* rest tomorrow

well done Martyn - you are certainly fit enough now to get around. I may be able to do part of leg one with you - sawing my plaster of next week!

Must of just missed you somewhere round Kirkfell, I was out with 'Daz the Slug' running around Ennerdale!! Probably went thro' there between 2 and 4!?
Was a nice day out!
Good effort btw 5 good days! You clearly are fit! Good luck with your attempt!

You know, the only runners I saw all day were as I reached Steeple - I could see a couple of blokes running along the ridge to the left of the Scoat Fell wall line (i.e. coming from Pillar) but they must have veered off because I didn't meet them .... was that you guys?

8.3 miles, 470ft of climbing today with the dog. That makes, in the last fortnight, a grand total of...8.3 miles & 470 feet of climbing. 19 days to my BG attempt. Not exactly the ideal preparation, isn't a chest infection. I'm not sure the antibiotics made any difference - I'm feeling better, but still not breathing completely clearly. Still a bit congested, still coughing a bit. But...if I don't get the legs going again I won't get round anyway.
So here's the plan:
2 weeks complete rest (done)
5 days training (started today)
2 weeks tapering
What could possibly go wrong?
