    i know a bloke who only runs 'trail' races because he is a bit put off by 'fell' races. I'm sure he'd be fine at any grade of fell race but the construct of fell running is almost too powerful. And he's happy to pay up to £25 not to run a fell race - but you do get a t-shirt (technical, of course)!

    And it was always thus. I well remember when I aspired to be a fell runner but was a bit in awe of it. Let myself in to it gently. But the powerful mystique was all part of the attraction. Glad to see it remains.
