    Food for Mountain Marathons

What do people like to eat on Mountain Marathons? For breakfast, on the run, and dinner time?
I think I'll walk this bit....

Saturday breakfast- porridge or cereal and plenty of fluid

On the run (both days)- jelly beans (gelatine free) and cereal bars like trackers. Also some gel sachets

Sat night (if not on the highlander when additional food was available)- couple of packets of cous cous with a bag of cashew nuts thrown in followed by instant custard with nutrigrain elevenses thrown in. cups of tea. tot of a malt.

Sun breakfast- instant oat breakfasts. tea

A single small gas cannister with a coleman f1 stove has always been sufficient.

Would be interested in what others go for.

Don't think I've met Juicer. At risk of offending a fellow forumite... is she a big lass then? Or just a fast metabolism?

Hope you enjoy the custard and nutrigrain combo.

You (or more likely me) will be in trouble for that. Fast metabolism definitely!! She just needs her food when running. Whereas I'll run all day on an oatcake and a jelly baby, she'll be wanting to sit down to a 3-course lunch in the middle of the MM

Okay, based on last year's OMM and this year's MdS:

    Day 1
Breakfast - Expedition Foods porridge with sultanas; 1l of SiS PSP/Go electrolyte mix
On the move - 100g Mixed nuts and/or haribo sweets (cola bottles, teddy bears, etc.)
Evening - Expedition Foods freeze dried meal, eg. pasta bolognese, chicken curry or sweet & sour chicken, 1l of SiS Rego, 0.5l of Go electrolyte, rest of nuts/sweets not eaten on run from earlier.

    Day 2

Breakfast and On the move as above
At the end - 1l REGO plus rest of nuts/sweets.

Then down the nearest curry house.....

Excellent thread as I am planning my first one in a couple of weeks. Will watch with interest.

I read this http://www.planetfear.com/article_detail.asp?a_id=471 and it put me straight on a few things.

Also powdered custard and malt loaf bits for pudding sounds nice for me!

Sat breakfast is the cooked fry up at the B&B!!! On the move jelly babies, wine gums and liquorice allsorts. Sometimes pig rolls or a cereal bar. For tea I have quick cook pasta and pesto sauce. One lot of green and one lot of red. Sponge cake and instant custard for pud. Have the same for breakfast - used to have porridge or something traditionnally breakfast food but didn't like it so now just eat pasta! With loads of tea (Ceylon as usual). Gosh this is making me hungry!!!

I'm the size I am in my avatar piccie gyppo, and eat like a bloomin' horse!!

Some great ideas here though - does EVERYONE doing MMs eat custard? Yum.

I'd definitely need something more than sweets and nuts on the run though - tracker bars sounds good. Might put a few hot cross buns in.

    Keep the ideas coming...................
I think I'll walk this bit....
