Do you all bother taking a sleeping mat?

I find them hard to digest....Sorry, couldn't resist!!

I usually take something...either a trimmed down sleep mat or bubble wrap.

Sat breakfast buscits e.g, chockolate hob-nobs, at least 3 hours befor start.
During run Fruit Jellys. a high 5 gell or two. Stream water taken on the move.
evening. Somthing savory straight after finishing, a couple of courses of supper noodles, somestimes with bean feast. buiscutes possibly with custurd for deserts.
Sunday Breakfast fig rolls about 2 hours befor starting (this can be stupidly early), on the run back to the Fruit Jellys.

That's what I thought! But like you say he's probably out there for a fraction of the time of us mere mortals!

    Re: Food for Mountain Marathon

Some good and interesting advice on here.

    Pleased to say that, taking on board this advice, and having had a discussion about it, Juicer's now managed to get our food list down to;

    Porridge
    Flapjacks
    Cous cous
    Noodles
    "Expedition" meals
    Custard
    Jelly babies
    Gels
    Chocolate treats
    Tracker bars
    Hot Cross Buns

So that's breakfast sorted.......she's working on lunch and tea now

I always laugh seeing the poor faces of people waking from a bad/wet sleeping bag, and finding that they have a small sachet of porrige for breakfast for day 2.....carry loads of food, you can bear the weight on day one, and will set you up on day 2...unless like ifor you are in the elite and thats a different game...i am just a mere mortal who likes to enjoy myself!

    Re: Food for Mountain Marathon

I have been doing busicutes for Brekfast when I compete in the morning ever since I was a student. Getting up late and having to rush to catch the mini-bus to go Orienteering I got into the habit of bying chockolate digestives from the news agents while I waited for the minbus.

Th quantity is the hard bit you only lern from experiance. I don't eat as much on the run as I used to, just can't get it down, 3 packs of fruit jellys normaly do for the weekend it used to be 5. At the camp we normaly have enough to fill up twice with a snooze in between.
