Excellent conditions for running this race on Saturday 18th May, even if this runner was not in perfect condition. I would not like this event to become too crowded but, for anyone who may be interested if it is held next year, this is a very runnable attractive course. Compared with the Yorkshire Three Peaks Race for example, it is about 5k longer and has about 200m more climb so it is a worthwhile challenge. There were only 108 runners starting this year and I think the organisers deserve a larger entry.

Thanks for this, Merlin. There were a few more numbers prior to the rearranged date but the priority became to lay on a good race that people would return to. I've had good feedback on the course (scenic and tough - just what I was going for) and I agree - let's not get it too big but I would like more for next year. I'm intending to do a write up for Fellrunner shortly. Glad you enjoyed it.

Unlucky losing the first date to the weather, I'm pretty sure you'd have lost a few runners to the Sandstone Trail the weekend before. You can't win with rearranged dates, but I reckon numbers will naturally be up next year.

Quick bump to say what a great event this was. Lots of familiar territory from other Clwydian races and a few familiar faces. Nigel off here planned the course and did a fine job. Rest of organisation great. Beer at the end sourced from the ground you ran across! If you fancy this sort of thing, put it on your list for next year.

Tough but brilliant event this. Had a trot (well stumble) round on Sunday. Seriously good organisation and great value. Highly recommended!

Derby Tup, I also did this. I stupidly did the Slateman Tri Sprint the day before... Needless to say it was a hard slog and my head went in a dark place. The event was amazing, route was really easy to follow. What was your bib number Derby Tup? I am still walking funny today!
