For 2012 I'm considering focusing more on AM races - anyone got some good recommendations?
Live in the peak so would be peak/lakes/N wales
Cheers

Castleton is ace and used to be an AM but, for this year, just shaves under 250'/m. Anyone know why? Is it the kit?
Kinder Downfall is always a classic. Enter early!
Crowden Horsehoe is a BM but is brilliant. Tigger Tor is good too, if you like heather!
My favourite AM is Blencathra - £1, stunning route, brilliantly low-key.
snowdonia does goes mediums tbf, the 4 best for me are:
wyddfa... boring route.. but the race is just too special to ignore...
ras y moelwyns, packs a lot into the 10 miles, much more varied than wyddfa.
carneddau.. the toughest medium in snowdonia... a race that only the strongest of runners will win...
moel eilio... classic grassy ridge running..
cader has a big rep, not a huge fan personally, but i suppose like wyddfa its the occassion which makes it.
Anniversary Waltz is an absolute belter of a race.
Kentmere Horseshoe is a good lakes race too!
agree with blencathra
coniston also a classic
Kentmere in July is a lovely race.
Grisedale Horseshoe at the beginning of september is a corker of a race. On a hot day the final climb is a corker.
three shires - is it AM? I dunno, maybe AL, but doable if so. One of my faves.
(actually of course it's an AL, being a component of the Lakeland Classics - still, you can get round in two and a half hours-ish)

It just falls short of AM but at 7.3 miles and about 1600 feet Teggs Nose at the start of August (10th in 2012) is a good one and local... but then I am biased
