    Are you liking this winter?

I'm not, I'm absolutely sick and tired of running into strong headwinds on the return half of most of my runs, slipping and sliding in off-cambered mud.
I don't mind a bit of the above, but it seems to have been like it for weeks now. Last winter we had sunny, calm days with minus temperatures and enough snow around to look lovely. This year is just a miserable battle, every time.
Also, once I can't feel my feet, my walshes seem pretty narrow and it's like running on ice skate blades. Especially after wearing some 'barefoot' type shoes on trail runs, where your toes are allowed to spread out in your shoe. Plus, my studs are wearing down and I can't afford to get a resole yet, although I'm working on it.
After Derby Tup put me on to that place in Burnley that does resoles, I'm thinking of their fell sole on my old wave harriers - that should be a cracking shoe, then I just need a day or two without strong winds..!
Anyway, that's got that off my chest - how is everyone else?

Haha, I don't think my walshes have dried out since October. All the same, I'm loving it... mud, wind, rain n'all

Had one truly glorious run in the snow a few weeks ago with Ogden Nomad (Windmill Whizz course plus 2 miles) when it was cold, bright, blue skies and the three peaks were lit up like sleeping monsters covered in pink icing as the evening sun bathed their frosty slopes. Every other run for the last few months has been a bit like being out on a North Sea trawler. But we're supposed to like all that stuff right?

If you don't like running the return half into a headwind, just start off in the opposite direction to the way you usually go. Easy.

P.S. I'm just glad to be running again

I'm enjoying it, when it's not raining. I spent all day out in the wind today - it wasn't so strong around Calderdale to stop you running. The rain's a pain though (glasses). I missed last Wednesday night's run due to the weather for the first time I can remember - blowing a hoolie & bucketing down at the same time. And the snow last month was great in the Lakes.

Did leg 3 of the Pennine Bridleway last Monday. It was murder. Coming over the ridge after the Shepherds Rest pub was just ridiculous.

If I'd have run the leg backwards I would have halved my time :O

    I agree with the wind.

I don't mind cold, rain, snow, but wind should be abolished.
