sarah a very basic recipe for cracking soup

    right get some red lentils
pour into water and bring to the boil, skim off any excess then add your chopped vegetables

    some ideas
    carrot and coriander
    parsnip
    sweet potatoe and fennel
    cauliflower and pea

    the list is endless
fill your saucepan with whichever you choose , add water to cover the vegetables, start to simmer , add a couple of vege stock cubes, salt , pepper

    my tips are
if you want to eat the soup with the vegetables not puried dont overcook them.

if you want to puree them , put them in your blender and blitz up, you will find that the soup comes out fairly thick, if so just put it back in a saucepan and add water to thin it down a bit to your liking , get one of those plastic containers and when its cooled bang it in the fridge

you will find if you add either parsnip or fennel in any soup thats all they will taste of
oh and be sure to clean your blender out straight away or else there a bugger to clean
    hope that helps
    daz

get some vegetable stock, a Massive sauce pan and about 5 litres of water.

Then pile as much vegetables and lentils in there as you possible can.

No matter what I used to put in my super slimmer soup/broth/paste it always tasted the same.

I did used to add a few chickens for protein.

I also added waterchestnuts for that added crunch

I may make some more on the back of this.

    Yummy

    Is before your op?

I thought you could taste anything then, so how did you know it always tasted ok?

Cheers daz i'll give the soup a go, I've been looking at organic boxes but a lot of them are £6 delivery charge off the net, so i might see if i can get them somewhere local this weekend.

Jamie - I'll see you at two lads then with a slice of thick soup!

Is all this organic business what it cracks up to be? seems well over priced and it seems these box people are proper cashing in on things.

Dont want a backlash on this, cos I really dont know what Im talking about. It was just an open question

I got some great spuds from Asda last night.

I buy them for the taste more so than the health reasons. All I know is they definatlely have more flavour, my dad grows a few organic veggies and VERY occasionally he gives me a few things, I couldn't beleive the difference in the taste of the carrots as appose to supermarket one's, but yes it is a lot more expensive, I try and just buy as much organic as I can afford, I always buy organic chicken but try and make it do two meals to even out the cost a bit.

    Asda
organic LOCAL boxes arnt expensive at all
lots of people dont like them cos you have to wash the veg, the taste is far better and i will guarantee loads cheaper than asda

also asda carrots wont last 5 minutes
    organic ones last ages
