Presumably for score O' events like New Chew, Forum Champ points are own points over winners points expressed as a percentage ... assuming score events are allowed. If not, there is a scoreless course.

Not 100% sure I'll be doing New Chew, but I think we should allow score O events
although points-wise, a normal race you get 0 points for going at half the speed of the winner, so maybe there should be a sliding scale down to half the score of the winner - i.e. if the winner scores 200 and you score 140, you get 40 points rather than 70 - does that make sense?

    Re: Forum Champs

Mole - excellent time at Winter Hill!
    unfortunately not quite 81 points:
    1:52:12 = 6732 secs; winner's time = 1:30:58 = 5458
    6732-5458 = 1274
    1274/5458 = 23%
    so 77 points

still puts you top though, so not all bad!

    Er.... no

The points system is fine (and just about do-able) as it is! By the way I've got a February result waiting in the wings - just need the final results to land on the Esk Valley fell runners web site for the Danby Beacon fell race (north york moors) on Sunday. Could be a goodish score as I won the fastest old fogey race and got a bottle of wine

I think that's a bit harsh. In your example, a score of 140 feels more like it's worth 70 rather than 40. If you screw up your timing, you can easily drop a shedload of points for being late, in fact if you took in the same controls as the winner, but took twice as long, you'd have a very negative score! But maybe that's a silly argument.

Perhaps I'll just avoid the problem by going for the scoreless (pointless???) course. I've entered Studmarks, so hope I won't need New Chew for my Feb race.

Another 76 for me I think at the Danby Beacon fell race results. My times 4,265 seconds vs winning time of 3,434 seconds. Difference = 24% of winners time and 100 less 24 = 76. I'm doing this right am I?

Jolly good, you did all the hard work for me! I, too, have a result from the Danby Beacon Race. I did 78mins so 4680 seconds which gives me 63.72 which I think I can call 64? (go on...let me ) Must find some races with slower people in.

Okay a Feb result from Fairmile Race, one of the Kendal Winter League series. My time 40:08 and winner 27:48 gives me 56 points.
