this might be of use to any other geeks that keep a race record in excel.
    =ROUND(1-(A1-B1)/(B1),2)*100

cell A1 is your time. cell B1 is the winning time. It works if you have converted to seconds already or if you format the cells to TIME

in other news regarding LDWAs being soft. after applying the formula to last years results an LDWA event (rombalds) yielded my worst score of the year and by a fairly large margin!

    Daz (everyone),
I ran the Whitestones race (part of Kendal Winter League) this weekend - but I don't know for sure if these WL races count in our champs?? It's a series organised by Helm Hill Runners populated by lots of Addisions so a good field, but not listed in FRA calender.

Eleanor - I don't know enough about the KWL
are the races open to all, or do you have to be a member of a participating club?
what are the races like wrt terrain/ascent? i.e. felly, traily, XC?

Last years winning time was ridiculous though given the conditions. That would be why

Daz, they are open to all, currently getting 100 in the senior races nearly all from fell clubs. Mostly they are like short fell races, some more XC-ish, all around 4 miles. See on the website helmhillrunners.co.uk/winter_league.

    Re: Forum Champs

Hey I think I get 69 points for Whitestones race.
    Winner's time: 31mins14 (1874 secs) and my time 45mins16 (2716 secs)
Is this how we are calculating? Winners time / my time x 100? That would be; 1874/2716 x 100 = 69

    Re: Forum Champs

Eleanor - er, sadly, no, that's not how to calculate your points
correct is as per superflyguy's helpful equation above, i.e.
    YourTime - WinnersTime = 2716-1874 = 842
    divided by WinnersTime = 842/1874 = 0.4493
    subtracted from 1 = 1-0.4493 = 0.5507
    x100 = 55.07
    rounded to nearest = 55
    easy peasy

    Stolly: 76
    zephr: 76
sore legs: 75 (Wadsworth Trog, Llanbedr to Blaenafon, Fellsman, Welsh 1000m)
Hes: 64 (probably the Beacon Race, High Cup Nick?, Commondale Clart, Fellsman...will add more when I know what I'm up to)
