I love these Nike Zoom trail....don't all laugh !! I know you're thinking Nike for fells and mountains, what is he on, but they are excellent. Don't make em any more but there are a few pairs still knocking around on t'internet. Low profile, good grip and a bit of cushioning. Perfect for any terrain except really boggy and ideal for hard, rocky paths. About time they brought em back out again

Have to say the nb mt 110 look the dogs but can't see em lasting long at all.

Saucony are bring out a trail version of their Kinvara which is their minimalist road shoe so they might be decent.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about - the Periguine. Its a trail Kinvara with a wee bit more cushion but a slightly wider forefoot.

I don't know, I was so fed up today I went for a run in the snow in an old pair of Mudclaw 330's And to be honest it wasn't that bad for a quick half hour.

Twister the Peregrine's been out for about a year now, a version 2 is going to be realeased

The shoe I'm talking about is the Kinvara Trail, a new trail shoe out later this year

    http://www.runblogger.com/2012/01/sa...ra-tr-and.html

The Peregine 2 is the black and lime shoe third form the bottom, the Kinvara trail is green shoe and the silver shoe at the bottom of the page.

You'll see the Kinvara trail is lower profile and more minimalist than the Peregrine

Kinvara trail looks like it might be good.

Ahh bugger. That looks a lot better. I may have to send the Periguines straight back! When's it coming to the UK?

    Quick update.

Firstly I can't spell Peregrine, the computer I'm on is Fench and I have to use my brain and remember how to spell again.

Secondly I went for my first run in the "Pery's" today, ankle to shin deep powder snow on a steep GRP footpath, climbed roughly 4-500 metres and then ran back down the same path and did a quick loop around some woods etc. Just under an hour's running.

They're exaclty what I want for that sort of run. Winter here starts off with leaves everywhere hiding rocks and roots, which is followed a few months later with snow everywhere hiding rocks and roots. As such one feels as good as barefoot in minimal footwear so a reduced shoe like this is just the ticket. I'll do a proper review on my blog in a few weeks after I've thrashed them some more, but for now - they're a keeper.

Just one thing - much better than my old standby the inov 285... much much better!

Sounds good twister, my Mrs has got a pair and she likes them. I'm sticking with my Nike and Inov8 315s for now but they'll be on the list for my next pair of trail shoes. I really wish Nike would bring the zoom trails back out as they are a superb shoe for hard trails and especially runs that combine trail and road.

ps where abouts in the Pyrenees are you, we've book a family holiday in Galan this summer. Its just north of Lannemazan, stayed there before and am going to do lots of cycling with the wife and kids but also a couple of days going up Tourmalet, Aspin, Aubisque etc., I love it round there

Strictly speaking we're not in the mountains, but in the foothills in the vallée de la Barguillere which is in the Ariege region of France. http://barguillere.free.fr/ We're about 40 mins from Montcalm and the same from Ax Les Thermes. Its pretty much unspoilt around here and we prefer it to the over comercialisation of the Alps. Plus the Pyrenees are much more runnable mountains!
